Chapter 9 - Reclaiming My Name

When I turned twenty-one, I officially gained control of the trust fund my grandfather had left me.
But I didn't buy a sports car or a mansion.
Instead, I used a portion of the funds to buy a beautiful, historic building in the heart of our city. We moved the Arthur and Emily Hollister Foundation out of our home and into this permanent space, creating a warm, welcoming center with a library, playrooms for kids, and meeting spaces for adoptive families.
On the day of the grand opening, the building was filled with laughter, balloons, and families who had successfully completed their adoptions through our program.
I stood in the main lobby, looking at a beautiful portrait of my mother, Emily, and my grandfather, Arthur, hanging on the wall.
Michael walked up beside me, wearing a proud, brilliant smile. He was older now, with silver in his hair, but his eyes still held the same fierce, protective warmth they had when I was eleven.
