Part 2: The Father’s Revenge Begins

Alexander Mercer had built an empire from nothing.

By forty-eight, he owned investment firms, commercial properties, and enough influence in Dallas to make politicians return his calls within minutes.

But none of that mattered when he looked at his daughter lying bruised on Elena’s couch.

The room was silent except for Sofia’s uneven breathing.

Alexander gently touched the swollen side of her face.

“Who did this?” he asked.

Sofia hesitated.

“Carmen.”

His jaw tightened.

“And Javier knew?”

Tears rolled down Sofia’s cheeks.

“He stood outside the door.”

For several seconds Alexander said nothing.

That silence frightened Elena more than shouting ever could.

Because she remembered exactly what kind of man her ex-husband became when someone hurt the people he loved.

Finally, Alexander stood.

“Stay with your mother.”

“Dad—”

“No.”

His voice was calm.

Too calm.

“You are never going back to that family again.”

He walked toward the door.

“Where are you going?” Elena asked.

“To make sure they never touch my daughter again.”

At six o’clock that morning, Carmen Robles was enjoying breakfast inside her luxury home.

She felt victorious.

The lesson had been taught.

The stubborn bride would eventually surrender the condo.

Then her phone rang.

Her smile disappeared after thirty seconds.

“What?”

The voice on the other end repeated the news.

Every one of her family’s corporate bank accounts had been frozen pending a financial investigation.

Three major clients had terminated contracts overnight.

A pending real-estate deal worth millions had collapsed.

Carmen hung up, shaking.

Another phone rang.

Then another.

And another.

By noon, chaos consumed the Robles household.

Javier burst into the living room.

“Mom! Someone filed complaints against the firm!”

Carmen stared at him.

“Who?”

The answer arrived moments later.

The front door opened.

Alexander Mercer walked in accompanied by two attorneys and three private investigators.

Nobody invited him.

Nobody stopped him.

He looked directly at Carmen.

“You put your hands on my daughter.”

Carmen forced a laugh.

“You have no proof.”

Alexander slid a folder across the table.

Inside were photographs from hotel security footage.

Witness statements.

Medical reports.

Phone records.

Everything.

The color drained from Javier’s face.

“You had people watching us?”

Alexander leaned forward.

“No.”

His eyes hardened.

“The difference between you and me is that I don't need to hide the truth.”

For the first time, Carmen looked afraid.

Alexander stood.

“You thought Sofia was alone.”

He pointed toward the evidence.

“You made one mistake.”

“What mistake?”

“You forgot she is my daughter.”

Then he walked away.

And for the first time in years, the Robles family understood exactly how dangerous they had made their enemy.
