Part 2: The Secret Inside Her

The door creaked open.
I froze.
For one terrifying second, I thought Ethan had somehow arrived.
But instead, a nurse stepped inside carrying a clipboard.
Dr. Patel visibly relaxed.
"Close the door," he said quickly.
The nurse obeyed, noticing the tension immediately.
"What happened?"
Dr. Patel turned the monitor toward her.
The moment she saw the image, her face lost color too.
"Oh my God."
My pulse raced.
"Will someone please tell me what's happening?"
Dr. Patel took a deep breath.
"Mrs. Harper, I need you to listen carefully. The mass inside your uterus isn't a fetus."
I stared at him.
"Then what is it?"
He hesitated.
"It appears to be a foreign object."
The room went silent.
"A... what?"
"A foreign object."
I laughed nervously.
"That's impossible."
"I wish it were."
He pointed to the screen.
"The shape is metallic. It doesn't resemble tissue. It doesn't resemble any known pregnancy complication. Whatever this is, it was placed there."
My mind refused to process the words.
Placed there.
Inside me.
How?
Why?
Dr. Patel immediately arranged an emergency transfer to the hospital.
Within an hour, I was surrounded by specialists.
CT scans.
Blood tests.
More ultrasounds.
Questions.
Endless questions.
Then, just after midnight, a surgeon entered my room carrying a thick file.
His expression was grim.
"We know what it is."
I sat upright.
"What?"
He placed a scan on the table.
The object was unmistakable.
A tiny metal capsule.
No larger than a fingertip.
My stomach twisted.
"What does it do?"
The surgeon exchanged a look with Dr. Patel.
Then he answered.
"We don't know."
Fear spread through my chest.
"What do you mean you don't know?"
"We've never seen one before."
The next morning, they performed surgery.
Three agonizing hours later, I woke up in recovery.
The capsule sat inside an evidence bag on a stainless steel tray.
Police officers stood nearby.
And that was when everything became even stranger.

Because the capsule wasn't medical.
It was electronic.
