Chapter 10 - Happily Ever After

Ten years after that fateful Thursday afternoon in Columbus, Ohio, my life was a masterpiece of peace, purpose, and enduring love.
My design firm, Coastal Horizons, had become a landmark institution in the region, known for preserving historical coastal architecture while championing sustainable, eco-friendly building practices. Julian and I worked side by side in our sunlit studio overlooking the sound, our professional synergy matching our personal harmony.
Our home was filled with laughter, creativity, and the pitter-patter of little feet—we had welcomed two wonderful children, a daughter named Maya and a son named Leo, whose curious eyes and bright spirits brought infinite joy into our daily lives.
On a warm autumn afternoon, as I stood on the wraparound porch of our seaside home watching Maya and Leo chase colorful autumn leaves across the lawn, Julian walked up behind me, wrapping his arms gently around my waist and resting his chin on my shoulder.
“What are you thinking about, my love?” he whispered, kissing my cheek.
I smiled, looking down at the platinum wave ring shining on my finger, then out toward the sparkling horizon where the ocean met the infinite blue sky.
“Just reflecting on how extraordinary life is,” I replied softly, leaning back into his embrace. “How every storm, no matter how cold or harsh it feels at the time, can end up washing away everything that doesn't belong in your life—leaving room for the warmth and beauty you truly deserve.”

Julian tightened his arms around me, resting his cheek against mine. “Well,” he smiled, “I for one am eternally grateful for whatever winds blew you to my shore.”
I turned in his arms, kissing him gently as the afternoon sun cast a golden glow across the porch, sealing our happily ever after in a world of our own making.
