Part 2: The Fall of the Kings

The snow continued to fall as Evelyn turned away from the house.
Behind her, Adrian laughed.
"Look at her," Vanessa said. "She still thinks she's important."
The front door slammed shut.
For a moment, the world became silent.
Only the wind remained.
Only her daughter remained.
Evelyn adjusted the blanket around the baby and began walking.
Every step hurt.
The stitches from childbirth felt as though they were tearing apart.
Her body begged her to stop.
But a strange strength carried her forward.
Not hope.
Not anger.
Purpose.
A black SUV appeared at the end of the street.
Then another.
Then a third.
Their headlights cut through the storm.
The vehicles stopped beside her.
Several men stepped out immediately.
One of them opened a large umbrella.
Another held out a heavy wool coat.
The third approached respectfully.
"Miss Veyron?"
Evelyn nodded.
The man lowered his head.
"My name is Daniel Reeves. I am head of security for the Veyron Family Office."
For the first time that night, she saw genuine concern in someone's eyes.
He glanced at the infant.
"Please come with us."
Minutes later, Evelyn sat inside a heated luxury vehicle while her daughter slept peacefully in a specially prepared infant carrier.
Daniel handed her a tablet.
"There is something you should see."
The screen displayed financial reports.
Company ownership structures.
Investment portfolios.
Then one particular page.
Adrian Hale Enterprises.
Evelyn blinked.
"Why is my husband's company here?"
Daniel hesitated.
"Because technically... it belongs to you."
"What?"
"The Veyron Trust purchased sixty-eight percent of the company three years ago through holding firms."
Evelyn stared.
Her grandfather had owned Adrian's business the entire time.
Without Adrian knowing.
A bitter laugh escaped her lips.
The irony was almost unbelievable.
The man who had thrown her away for money had never realized that his success existed only because her grandfather allowed it.
The next morning, Adrian arrived at his office.
Security denied him entry.
At first, he thought it was a mistake.
Then the board meeting began without him.
Then he received an email.
Effective immediately, Adrian Hale was terminated as CEO due to financial misconduct uncovered during an emergency audit.
By noon, the story reached financial media.
By evening, investors were fleeing.
By midnight, his personal accounts were frozen pending investigation.
Meanwhile, Margaret received devastating news of her own.
The mansion she proudly called "family property" was owned by a Veyron subsidiary.
The mortgage had never been paid off.
Within twenty-four hours, foreclosure proceedings began.
The woman who had thrown a newborn into a snowstorm suddenly found herself packing jewelry into cardboard boxes.
Vanessa left before sunrise.
No goodbye.
No loyalty.
No tears.
She simply disappeared in search of a richer future.
Exactly as Evelyn expected.
For the first time in years, Adrian understood what it felt like to lose everything.
But his punishment was only beginning.
Because money was never what Evelyn wanted.
May you like
She wanted truth.
And truth was about to destroy him.
