As the sun began to set over the quiet Ohio neighborhood, painting the evening sky in breathtaking strokes of amber, violet, and gold, the birthday celebration gently wound down. The guests had all departed with warm hugs and leftover cake, leaving the backyard peaceful and serene.
Maria and Elena sat together on the wooden porch swing, gently rocking back and forth as the evening breeze rustled the leaves of the old oak tree.
