Chapter 10 - Dawn of a New Legacy

Two years later.
It was a brilliant midsummer morning in a quiet coastal town in Maine.
A small wooden church sat on a green hill overlooking the sapphire ocean. White wild roses climbed the wooden fences, and the air was filled with the song of gulls and the gentle rustle of sea grass.
Inside the church, sunbeams streamed through stained-glass windows, painting rainbow patterns across the polished wooden pews.
Caleb Morgan stood near the altar, looking sharp and handsome in a dark charcoal tuxedo. Standing beside him as his best man was Dr. Marcus Vance, smiling proudly.
The organ music shifted into a majestic, triumphant processional march.
The heavy wooden doors opened.
Grace walked down the aisle first, wearing a beautiful white flower-girl dress, tossing pink rose petals onto the carpet with a beaming, radiant smile.
And then came Vivian.
She took everyone's breath away. She wore an elegant, simple silk wedding gown with a flowing lace train. Her dark hair was styled softly with wild white roses woven into the back. She carried a bouquet of blue hydrangeas and white lilies.
Her eyes were fixed entirely on Caleb.
When she reached the altar, Caleb took her hand. Her skin was warm, soft, and steady.
"You look breathtaking," Caleb whispered.
"I remember every second that brought me to you," Vivian whispered back, her eyes sparkling with joyful tears.
The elderly minister smiled at the couple, opening his book. "Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today in the presence of God and these witnesses to join this man and this woman in holy matrimony..."
The vows were simple, sincere, and unshakeable—spoken not just as promises for the future, but as testimonies to the trial of fire they had survived together.
"I, Caleb, take you, Vivian... to have and to hold, from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part."
"I, Vivian, take you, Caleb... my savior, my partner, my love... to have and to hold, from this day forward..."
When the minister pronounced them husband and wife, Caleb pulled Vivian into his arms and kissed her as the congregation erupted into joyful applause and cheers. Grace jumped up and down, clapping her hands wildly.
Later that evening, as the golden sun dipped below the ocean horizon, a grand reception was held on the sprawling lawn of their new coastal home. Laughter, music, and the smell of delicious food filled the ocean air.
Caleb and Vivian walked hand in hand down to the sandy beach, leaving the party noise behind for a quiet moment together. Grace ran ahead of them, chasing the gentle foam of the low-tide waves, her laughter carried by the sea breeze.
Caleb wrapped his arm around Vivian's waist, pulling her close against his side as they watched their daughter play.
"Are you happy, Dr. Morgan?" Vivian asked softly, resting her head against his shoulder.
Caleb looked down at her, then out at Grace, feeling a warmth in his chest so profound it filled every corner of his heart.

"I am completely, undeniably happy, Mrs. Morgan," Caleb answered softly.
The dark rain of that distant emergency room night was long gone, replaced by the endless, warm light of a morning that would never fade.
