What is in Trump's bill that requires proof of citizenship to vote?

WASHINGTON, March 17 (Reuters) - President Donald Trump is pressing Congress to pass sweeping election-security legislation that he calls his "No. 1 priority" for Congress this year, though it is expected to fall short in the Senate. Democrats and independent analysts say the so-called SAVE America Act, which requires proof of U.S. citizenship in voting, could disenfranchise Americans in November who ‌lack ready access to passports, birth certificates and other forms of identification.

PROOF OF U.S. CITIZENSHIP

The legislation requires people registering to vote in a federal election to present documentary proof that they are U.S. citizens, such as a passport or a birth certificate. The documents must be presented in person. Trump says voting by non-citizens could undermine Republican candidates in the November midterm elections, when control of the House of Representatives and the Senate is at stake.
