On my wedding day, I saw another woman who was prettier and more curvy than my wife. As she walked through the crowd, I couldn’t stop my gaze from following her.

The way her hips swayed and her attractive complexion nearly made me stand up from my seat to talk to her. But I managed to calm myself.

As we exchanged vows before the priest, my head was clouded with images of that lady’s body shape.

What if I approach her just for a few seconds? Will people notice? I kept asking myself these questions, but I couldn’t come up with an answer.

I remembered the night before the wedding when my wife had said, “I promise to be faithful to you until the very end. I will never cheat on you, never betray you, and always stand by your side till death do us part.”

At that moment, I felt like the most loved man in the whole world.

The first night I met her was during a house-opening event held by one of my colleagues. That colleague was her brother.

One thing led to another, and I asked her out. The moment she accepted to date me, her brother intervened and refused.

“You can’t date him,” he said to her. “I know him very well, and I know what is good for you. So I refuse to let you date him.”

I thought it was a joke that would end soon, but he insisted. He even threatened to cut all ties with his sister if she eventually dated me, not even married me.

“I love him. He’s the one I’ve been waiting for all these years—the one I want to spend the rest of my life with. Can’t you respect my wish? Am I some toy you are meant to control?” She confronted him one afternoon in his office.

Their voices were so loud that I didn’t even stress myself to hear them.

Her brother cried, “He’s not what he seems. He is not a good man! Although he is my colleague, he’s not a good one for you. Trust me.”

But the lady insisted, and that was when I realized she truly loved me.

After that heated conversation, her brother finally agreed, reluctantly. “I hope that when it happens, you don’t come to me for help.” That strained the relationship between me and my colleague.

Now, let me put this straight: I am not a bad man. I am a good man who cherishes anything that is beautiful. And women are like beautiful flowers, pluck one today and you can still pluck as many others tomorrow.

I proposed to the lady who stood up to her brother for me because that is good wife material.

And on our wedding day, I didn’t know that someone prettier than she was would be there.

Even as we exchanged our vows, I kept sneaking glances at this lady who was still walking around at the back. It seemed like she was in charge of something at the wedding.

Before taking photos after the wedding, I decided to see this lady and talk to her.

Luckily, I met her at the back, this time taking pictures with her phone.

“Hi. Who is this beauty?” I began, and she turned immediately and smiled at me. She was polite; she even greeted and congratulated me on my new home.

Before I could say anything else, my best man appeared behind me and whispered that it was time to take photos. “I will be right there,” I whispered.

“Your wife is under the sun waiting for you,” he said.

“Tell her to wait. I’m coming.”

Then he left. I turned back to the lady, who was still smiling, and asked for her phone number.

She paused, then forced a smile to her lips.
“I don’t understand, sir. I’m your wife’s cousin…” Her mind had already gone wild.
I was shocked for a bit, but I managed to keep calm.

“Ah! I just wanted to get the phone numbers of each member of my wife’s family. That’s all.” She smiled and took my phone to put in her number when my wife’s brother walked toward me.

“Why have you kept my sister waiting outside while talking to...?” He then turned to the lady in front of me and quickly understood what was going on. “Even on your own wedding day, Dami? My cousin?"
